Abstract depiction of a tree crown captured with ICM technique. From Oleksandr Shapovalov “Crown of the Sky Spirits” fine art photography series.
Crown of the Sky Spirits is a fine art photography series in which I create an image of the tree as a living presence existing between earth and sky. Rather than documenting reality, the work seeks to convey a state of perception — a moment before form separates from sensation, when the gaze remains open and unfiltered.
Each image emerges through an intuitive, authorial way of seeing, where movement, rhythm, and layered perception are formed directly in the act of photographing. Tree crowns appear as ancient signs and living forms, not as symbols, but as intuitively recognized images arising from a deep, direct connection with nature.
The forest is revealed as a space of direct experience and primordial awareness — childlike, shamanic, and ecstatic. Through mist, light, and dissolving boundaries, the work points to a quiet yet profound bond between human perception and the silent presence of trees.
